Ministers and officials have encouraged private sector companies and NHS trusts and health authorities to explore the scope for using private finance to improve and extend NHS services in cost-effective ways. In the next three months Ministers will address a number of conferences on the use of private finance in the NHS. Officials have met finance directors of many NHS trusts to discuss the private finance initiative.
