§ Mr. WorthingtonTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what preparations have been made for the United Kingdom input to the 1994 United Nations world population conference; which Government Department will be responsible for these preparations; and what plans there are to draw on non-governmental organisations contributions to this conference on the lines of the NGO involvement in the June 1992 Earth summit.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydWe will participate fully in preparatory meetings for the United Nations 1994 international conference on population and development. We will also participate in the European population conference in March 1993 which will provide a European regional contribution to the preparations. The questions of which Government Department will take the prime responsibility for the preparations and the arrangements for drawing on NGO contributions are under consideration.
