Mr. Pendry

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will publish a table setting out for the period since 9 April(a) each tender issued by his Department for projects requiring the supply of (i) computer hardware and (ii) computer software, (b) a description of the services required, (c) the number of companies which were invited to tender, (d) the number of companies which submitted a bid without prior invitation by his Department, (e) which company was awarded the contract, (f) the value of each contract and (g) the length of period over which the contract will run.

The table sets out the requested information.Tenders issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office since 9 April 1992 for the supply of computer hardware and software:

(i) Computer Hardware:

    2. (b) For the procurement of computer hardware and software
    3. (c) 10 companies invited to tender
    4. (d) No company submitted a bid without prior invitation
    5. (e) Olivetti was awarded the contract
    6. (f) The value was approximately £500,000
    7. (g) The contract will run for 12 months approximately

    1. (a) HESD Multi-user System Project
    2. (b) For UNIX system hardware and software
    3. (c) 3 companies invited to tender
    4. (d) No company submitted a bid without prior invitation

    6. (e) Contract not yet awarded
    7. (f) Value likely to be around £35,000
    8. (g) Contract will run for 12 months

(ii) Computer Softwared

    5. (e) Contract not yet let
    6. (f) Value unlikely to exceed £100,000
    7. (g) Contract will run for 12 months
