HC Deb 26 October 1992 vol 212 c482W
16. Mr. Corbett

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what plans he has to liberalise transatlantic air services and encourage more international flights from regional airports.

Mr. Norris

In the past seven years, we have seen a 40 per cent. increase in the number of international routes served from regional airports. British Airways has recently proposed new routes from Manchester and Birmingham to the States. Both my right hon. Friend the Secretary of state and the US Secretary for Transportation are taking a close interest in the progress of liberalisation talks. Difficult issues remain but work on them has been accelerated.
