§ Mr. Cash
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what proposals he has made to amend the treaty of Rome to allow non-European states to become EC members.

§ Mr. Garel-Jones
The treaty of Rome provides that any European state may apply for membership of the Community. There are no proposals to amend the treaty to allow non-European states to become EC members.
