HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 cc229-30W
Mr. Llew Smiith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many reportable incidents at the 8205 reprocessing plant at Sellafield have been brought to the attention of his Department and predecessor departments with responsibility for British Nuclear Fuels, since the system of reporting radiological incidents was established.

Mr. Eggar

The arrangements for reporting nuclear incidents at civil nuclear installations to my Department and its precursor were most recently revised in 1987. I refer the hon. Gentleman to the answer given by my hon. Friend the Member for Eddisbury (Mr. Goodlad) to a question from the then Member for Sherwood, Mr. Stewart,Official Report, 30 April 1987, c. 203–4.

Since April 1987 there have been four "formally reportable" incidents involving Building B205. These occurred in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1992. Details have been contained in weekly site newsletters which have been made available to the Library of the House.
