§ Mr. Llew SmithTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what commitments were made by the United Kingdom to provide financial and technical aid to the nuclear industries of eastern European countries during the meeting of OECD member states in Brussels held in mid-September.
§ Mr. EggarThe meeting of the G24 nuclear safety working group on 14 and 15 September was held to develop further the arrangements for the coordination of nuclear safety assistance to the countries of eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and not for the purpose of making additional commitments of assistance. The United Kingdom will be playing an important part in the provision of such assistance both bilaterally and through the European Community's PHARE and TAXIS programmes.
