HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c121W
Mr. Spearing

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment, pursuant to his answer of 3 July to the hon. Member for Billericay (Mrs. Gorman),Official Report, column 714, which person or bodies are responsible for choosing successful applicants for the Euroform initiative; how many applicants were unsuccessful; by what means the fund was advertised; and if he will place in the Library a document showing the amount of grant made to each of the 175 projects mentioned in the answer naming the recipient organisation and the purposes to which the grant will be put.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

A Euroform programme committee has been set up, comprising of representatives from local authorities, higher education institutions, voluntary bodies, training and enterprise councils, the European Commission and Employment Department. This committee made the selection of projects to be funded under Euroform. Out of 277 bids, 102 were unsuccessful.

Information about the Euroform initiative was made available through the existing European social fund committee structures, through Community action programme networks—FORCE and EUROTECHNET—and to all organisations which registered an interest.

Of the 175 projects originally given approval in principle, 62 have yet to be formally approved due to delays in applicants providing the necessary financial information and/or confirmation of transitional partnerships. Once these projects are cleared, a complete list will be placed in the Library detailing the projects to be assisted.
