HC Deb 19 October 1992 vol 212 c120W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what proposals she has to strengthen her regulatory powers to register, monitor and supervise employment agencies; and what proposals she has to increase the supervisory powers she has over model agencies and to increase the minimum age at which young people can work as models without chaperones.

Mr. McLoughlin

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment has no proposals to strengthen her powers over model agencies or employment agencies. There are no regulations which specifically govern the minimum age at which young people can work as models without chaperones. The Children (Performances) Regulations 1968 are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health and are enforced by local education authorities.
