What amounts of food have been provided for relief, aid and development throughout the world from EC intervention stocks, in each of the last three years for which figures are available; and what quantities of the principal commodities remain in stock.
§ Baroness Chalker of WallaseyEC food aid is purchased by the EC Commission. Most of it is drawn from the market. But, according to the European Commission,82,500 tonnes of intervention wheat will be purchased for emergency food aid for developing countries in 1992. Corresponding figures for 1990 and 1991 are nil and 250,000 tonnes respectively.
