HL Deb 19 October 1992 vol 539 c69WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will seek an international ban on all flights over Bosnia-Herzegovina with the exception of those sponsored by the United Nations; and whether they will arrange for armed aerial protection for relief convoys in that country.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

We fully support UN Security Council Resolution 781, which banned military flights in the airspace of Bosnia-Herzegovina. This ban does not apply to flights in support of United Nations operations, including humanitarian assistance. The Bosnian Serbs' offer to remove their combat aircraft to Serbia must now be put rapidly into effect. Relief convoys will he protected by UNPROFOR forces on the ground.
