To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list the circumstances under which he advises British holidaymakers abroad to contact the consular services.

There are numerous circumstances in which British holidaymakers abroad may seek help or advice from British Consulates. They include:

  1. i. heightened danger from civil unrest;
  2. ii. arrest and/or imprisonment;
  3. iii. death of a British national or serious injury;
  4. iv. lost or stolen passports, tickets or money;
  5. v. need for help with repatriation;
  6. vi. requests for general information, such as names of lawyers, doctors, dentists, translators;
  7. vii. requests for travel advice.
