To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much the United Kingdom Government have fined airlines under the provisions of the Immigration (Carriers Liability) Act 1987 in the past 24 months.

The total of sums demanded of airlines under the Immigration (Carriers' Liability) Act 1987 for the two years up to 31 August 1992 was about £24 million.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the provisions of the carriers liability schemes which exist in the OECD countries.
