Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his Answer of 12 June,Official Report, column 298, when the hon. Member can expect to receive the report of the CAA/Ministry of Defence investigation into the air near-miss that occurred on 1 July over Currock hill gliding site.

Mr. Norris

I am advised by the Civil Aviation Authority that this incident, involving a Cadedonian Airways triStar and a glider, over Currock hill gliding site on 31 May 1992, has been examined by the independent joint airmiss working group. The findings of the group will be available in the spring of next year. It will feature in the Civil Aviation Authority's regular publication "UK Airmisses Involving Commercial Air Transport". Arrangements have been made for the hon. Member to receive a copy when it is available.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to his answer of 7 July,Official Report, column 109, when the hon. Member can expect to receive the report from the joint CAA/Ministry of Defence investigation into the air near-misses that occurred on (a) 26 June over south Wales and (b) 25 June, 15 miles north of Grimsby.

The air miss report filed with the Civil Aviation Authority in respect of the incidents involving respectively:

  1. 1. An Air UK Fokker 27 and a Royal Air Force Tornado, north of Grimsby on 25 June 1992; and
  2. 2. A United Airlines boeing 767 and a Venezuelan-registered Falcon 50 south west of Ebbw Vale on 26 June 1992;

have been examined by the independent joint air miss working group. The group's assessment of each incident will be published along with others by the Civil Aviation Authority in the spring of 1993 and I have made arrangments for the hon. Member to receive a copy of this document when it is available.
