HC Deb 30 November 1992 vol 215 c23W
Mr. Campbell-Savours

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what was (i) the total cost, adjusted to 1992 prices, of the wildlife incident investigation scheme for Scotland and (ii) the proportion of the total cost contributed by the agrochemical industry levy, in each of the last five years.

Sir Hector Monro

[holding answer 26 November 1992]: Prior to 1990 figures for the cost of the wildlife incident investigation scheme for Scotland were included in those provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

The information for subsequent years is set out in the table.

£000 at 1992 prices
1990–91 (covering 15 month period) 186
1991–92 166
1992–93 (forecast) 152

The major part of the cost is borne by the industry. The cost of other work, particularly the time of departmental staff in investigating incidents is not readily available.
