To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment which rights of way have been stopped up since 1990 and when the stopping up was undertaken, under(a) the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, section 247 and (b) previous procedures, since 1962; and if he will make a statement.

Powers under section 247 are exercisable by the Secretary of State for Transport, as well as the Secretary of State for the Environment. Information as requested is not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
