HC Deb 26 November 1992 vol 214 c821W
Dr. Godman

To ask the President of the Board of Trade pursuant to his answer of 19 November,Official Report, column 343, in respect of the conditions attached to the Piper Alpha abandonment programme, what is (a) the contractor employed in the recovery of the debris from the seabed and (b) the type of vessels engaged therein; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

Trawling for debris has been carried out by SFF Services Ltd, a commercial enterprise owned by the Scottish Fishermen's Federation, using the trawlers Constant Friend and Starlight. Debris too large or too heavy to be lifted in a trawl has been recovered by Rockwater Ltd. using the diving support vessel Rockwater 2.

Recovery of remaining debris in the 500 to 1,500 m annulus is scheduled to be completed during the second quarter of 1993. Invitations to tender for this work will be issued in the new year.
