HC Deb 26 November 1992 vol 214 cc813-4W
Mr Nicholls

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what resources will be provided for local authorities as a consequence of the changes to the independent living fund announced on 24 November.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

In addition to the £539 million I announced on 2 October for the community care special transitional grant, we have decided to allocate extra resources to local authorities to enable them to play a full part in meeting the needs of severely disabled people. I am therefore increasing the community care special transitional grant by over £26 million to £565 million in 1993–94. In 1994–95, the grant will be increased by £64 million to £716 million, and in 1995–96 it will rise by £100 million to £618 million. The detailed arrangements and distribution of the resources will be discussed with the local authority associations.
