§ The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Baroness Denton of Wakefield)The carriage of plutonium is only allowed in special containers which are subject to stringent international safety standards. These arrangements do not depend for their effectiveness on the particular mode of transport or route employed. Appropriate measures are taken to ensure the security of plutonium transport.
