§ Mr. Menzies CampbellTo ask the President of the Board of Trade (1) if he will list those companies that sought export licences for machine tools to Iraq between 1985 and 1991 which were wholly or partly owned by Iraqis; and what the equipment was for which the licences were applied;
(2) on what occasions and for what equipment export licences for machine tools for Iraq were granted between 1985 and 1991 after it was known that a licence for a similar product had been turned down by another country;
(3) if he will publish a list of export licences for machine tools granted to British companies for equipment destined directly or through a third country to Iraq between 1987 and 1991, stating the name of the company, the equipment concerned and its end use.
§ Mr. Needham[holding answer 17 November 1992]: For reasons of commercial confidentiality, it has been the practice of successive Administrations not to disclose such information about individual export licences.
