HC Deb 20 November 1992 vol 214 c442W
Ms. Primarolo

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans she has to arrange for an inquiry by the committee on the safety of medicines, or independently, into the safety of human insulin.

Dr. Mawhinney

We have no plans at present to arrange for an independent inquiry into the safety of human insulin. The Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) has monitored closely adverse effects occurring with human insulins since their introduction and continues to do so. Concerns raised in relation to the safety of human insulins have been reviewed by CSM on several occasions.
