To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list those agencies in his Department which are being considered for privatisation or contractorisation.

The Home Office has three agencies: the Fire Service College, the Forensic Science Service and the United Kingdom Passport Agency, and a fourth—the Prison Service Agency—is due to be launched

in April 1993. As the then Prime Minister explained to the House on 24 October 1988, at column 14, the status of potential agencies is carefully considered before the agency is launched. The future status of an agency will normally be re-examined during the periodic review of an agency's framework document which is a standard part of each agency's arrangements.
