§ Mr. Simon HughesTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government in respect of sustaining in real terms the value of funding for urban priority areas in England.
§ Mr. Robin Squire[holding answer 16 November 1992]: Urban priority areas benefit from a range of programmes within my Department's urban group including city challenge, and also derelict land grant and city grant which will transfer to the Urban Regeneration Agency. My right hon. and learned Friend announced last week an increase of £93 million in the resources planned for the urban group 210W in 1993–94. Urban priority areas will also benefit from their new freedom to spend capital receipts, augmented by the new urban partnership fund which we have established as part of capital partnership.
