To ask the Secretary of State for Education how much funding is available for the schools element of the grants for education support and training programme in 1992–93 and for 1993–94.

Mr. Forth

The grants for education support and training programme for 1992–93 supports some £377 million of expenditure in England, of which some £344 million will be for or associated with schools. The programme for 1993–94 will support some £320 million in England, of which some £314 million will be for or associated with schools. Grant is generally paid at 60 per cent. of expenditure.
