Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to her answer of 22 October,Official Report, column 369, how many self-deferred cases are included in the figures for March 1992 of (a) in-patient admissions and (b) day case admissions of (i) in each NHS region and in England in total and (ii) in each specialty.

This shows that the total number of patients who declined an offer of admission fell by nearly 4,000 (or 8 per cent.) compared with March 1991.
