HC Deb 16 November 1992 vol 214 cc100-1W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) what assistance has been given in the past by her Department to the Thrombosis Research Institute; and what such resources will continue to be made available in the future;

(2) if she will make a statement outlining all the funding which is currently made available by her Department to research into the causes and treatments of thrombosis.

Mr. Sackville

The Department of Health made a grant to the Thrombosis Research Institute of £600,000 spread over three years ending in 1991–92 to assist with the establishment of the institute. We have no current plans to extend this funding. Consideration of support for research into the causes and treatment of thrombosis is a matter for the Medical Research Council.
