HC Deb 16 November 1992 vol 214 c26W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if she will make a statement listing those training and enterprise councils which have supplied her with local job creation plans in areas affected by the seven proposed pit closures under the statutory redundancy procedure; and what proportion of the £75 million she has allocated has been requested to fulfil those plans.

Mr. McLoughlin

Initial proposals for additional labour market measures to alleviate the effects of the closures of the eight pits in England on the list of 10 uneconomic pits, subject to the statutory 90-day consultation period, have been submitted by the following training and enterprise councils:

  • Barnsley and Doncaster TEC
  • North Nottinghamshire TEC
  • Greater Nottingham TEC
  • QUALITEC and METROTEC (Wigan) (a joint plan)
  • County Durham TEC
  • Staffordshire TEC

Final action plans, including the proportion of the £75 million available, have yet to be agreed.
