HC Deb 13 November 1992 vol 213 c988W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number of jobs created in the past 12 months as a result of his Department's efforts.

Mr. David Hunt

The Welsh Office operates a range of programmes and activities which contribute to economic development, many of which cannot be quantified accurately in terms of direct jobs created. But some can: for example, during the past 12 months offers of regional selective assistance accepted by companies in Wales are planned to create nearly 7,300 new jobs as well as safeguarding nearly 4,300 others.
