HC Deb 11 November 1992 vol 213 cc792-3W
Mr. Nigel Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many appeals are still outstanding relating to bills received under the uniform business rate as at 1 November in England.

Mr. Robin Squire

[holding answer 9 November 1992]: At the end of September 1992, the latest date at which information is available for England, in respect of the 1990 non-domestic rating list there were about 550,000 outstanding proposals of which around 500,000 had been passed by valuation offices to valuation tribunals as appeals. This follows the clearance of over 400,000 cases.
