HC Deb 09 November 1992 vol 213 c617W
Mr. Tom Clarke

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many staff hours were involved in preparing to the Scottish local government reform proposals.

Mr. Lang

Preparation of the proposals has involved staff in many parts of the Scottish Office. De tailed information on staff hours devoted to particular subjects would take too many staff hours to calculate.

Mr. Tom Clarke

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how much was paid to Touche Ross for its consultancy report on the reorganisation of Scottish local government.

Mr. Lang

The figure is £38,000.

Mr. Tom Clarke

Mr. Lang

The cost, excluding Scottish Office staff costs, of preparing and reproducing 15,000 consultation papers, 700 videos, 1,000 posters and 110,000 leaflets was approximately £115,000.
