§ Mr. StewartThere is currently no planning policy guidance available to local authorities on the subject of coastal erosion. Following a review of the priorities for planning guidance, coastal planning has been identified as requiring attention and we accept the need to extend guidance in this area. Revised guidance will be drawn up to take forward the approach set out in the Government response to the Environment Select Committee's report on coastal zone protection and planning. A copy of the response has been placed in the library of the House.
