§ Mr. BeithTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether Inland Revenue staff are permitted to make tape recordings of interviews with taxpayers without the knowledge or consent of the taxpayer; and if he will include provisions in the taxpayers charter and in departmental guidance manuals so as to preclude such recordings being made.
