§ Mr. MacleanDirect estimates of total methane production from landfills in Scotland and Northern Ireland have not been made. An estimate based on population and waste arising statistics suggests that the figure is likely to be between 10 per cent. and 15 per cent of the total for England and Wales, or between 100,000 and 150,000 tonnes per annum.
