To ask the President of the Board of Trade what plans he has to announce new proposals to improve manufacturing output; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Heseltine

We will continue to announce new proposals as and when we reach appropriate decisions.

Mr. Fabricant

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what measures he is taking to support the supply side of the economy with particular regard to manufacturing and the drive for exports.

Mr. Needham

The Government are committed to strengthening the supply side of the economy by the control of inflation, by tax rates that provide real incentives, by reducing the burden of Government, by providing high-class advisory services, and by keeping markets, both at home and abroad, fair and competitive.
