HC Deb 02 November 1992 vol 213 c30W
Dr. Wright

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what consultations English Heritage undertook with its advisory committees and other interested groups in preparing its current plan to dispose of sites of archaeological importance; and what were the results of such consultation.

Mr. Brooke

English Heritage proposes to categorise certain of its buildings, monuments and sites as of regional importance, fully meriting continued protection but more suited to local management. It has not yet been decided how many properties will be so categorised and English Heritage will consult its own advisory committees, both on the general criteria and on a case-by-case basis, before such decisions are taken.
