To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish details of the funding applications currently held by his Department in respect of improvement to HMP Haverigg; and if he will make a statement.

Extensive improvements to HM Prison Haverigg (costing some £3.4 million) have been carried out in the last four years and the following additional work is planned during the next five years:

  • Re-roof officers' club
  • Refurbish living units
  • Repair cladding to weavers shop
  • New gas supply
  • Refurbish dining halls
  • Renew drains

The following schemes are also under consideration, but no firm starting dates have yet been allocated:

  • Repair pathways/roads to quarters
  • Provision of new staff canteen
  • Provision of visitors' centre
  • Sports hall extension
