§ Mr. MacleanThe Building Research Establishment is investigating the effects of ultraviolet radiation on plastic building material, polymeric roofing membranes, building sealants and paints, as part of its research on the deterioration of these materials caused by natural weathering. This research involves development of accelerated weathering tests, including exposure to enhanced levels of ultraviolet radiation. However, it is not presently possible to estimate the costs of exposure of building materials to ultraviolet radiation alone.
