HL Deb 13 March 1992 vol 536 c82WA
Lord Harris of Greenwich

asked Her Majesty's Government:

From what time on Saturdays do staff at Her Majesty's Prison Pentonville decline to accept prisoners; and whether action will be taken to extend these hours to prevent prisoners being diverted to police cells.

Earl Ferrers

Pentonville prison normally accepts prisoners until 2.30 on Saturday afternoons, though after this time they can be admitted by prior arrangement with the duty governor. In order to improve our service to the courts we are reviewing the times at which establishments admit prisoners.
