HL Deb 09 March 1992 vol 536 c43WA
Lord Bethell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many Polish citizens appealed against a refusal to grant a British visitor's visa in the years 1988 to 1991 inclusive; how many of these appeals were upheld, how many were rejected, how many are still under consideration and what is the approximate average time taken to deal with such appeals.

Earl Ferrers

The only information available is that which is held by the British Embassy in Warsaw on appeals which they have received against a refusal to grant a non-settlement visa. This data shows that there were 679 such appeals in 1989, 1,019 in 1990 and 309 in 1991. These appeals include refusals to grant visas for students, businessmen and diplomats as well as for visitors.
