§ Mr. Tony BanksTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what information he has on mortality rates amongst badgers caused by(a) licensed killing and (b) motor vehicles in each of the past three years.
§ Mr. MacleanIn the past three years only two badgers have been killed under licence under the Badgers Act 1973, both in order to protect poultry. Out of a population of 250,000 adult badgers, we estimate that at least 20,000 are killed each year on our roads.
