HL Deb 29 June 1992 vol 538 cc43-4WA
Lord Hunt

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether following the implementation of Section 46 of the Criminal Justice Act 1991, the Parole Board will still review the cases of prisoners liable to removal from the United Kingdom; and, if not, what system of review will operate as a basis for the Home Secretary's decision in these cases.

Earl Ferrers

Under Section 46, of the Criminal Justice Act 1991, the Secretary of State may release on licence a long term prisoner who is liable to removal from the United Kingdom, without receiving a recommendation for release from the Parole Board. The Government are still considering how the cases of such prisoners should be reviewed.
