HL Deb 11 June 1992 vol 537 c86WA
Baroness David

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the average cost of a place in an approved probation or bail hostel in 1990–91.

Earl Ferrers

The average revenue cost to the Home Office of providing the 2,190 places available at bail and probation/bail hostels during 1990–91 was £6,881. This represents 80 per cent. of the total running costs of such hostels, the balance being provided by payments from local authorities.

It is not possible to reflect the additional capital cost to the Home Office of each place without disproportionate cost.
