Mr. John Marshall

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations have been made on behalf of refusenik Gersh Furman and his family of Kazan.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

We have made various representations to the Russian authorities on behalf of Gersh Furman. In Moscow in March I raised human rights issues with the Russian first deputy Foreign Minister, including the case of Mr. Furman.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations have been made on behalf of refusenik Pyotr Slutsky and his family of Primorsky Kray.

We can consider raising with the Russian authorities the case of Pyotr Slutsky and his family, but to make effective representations we would need further details.
