HC Deb 09 June 1992 vol 209 c121W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what proposals he has for the acquisition of alternative feeding grounds for wading birds displaced by the Cardiff bay barrage proposal; what progress he has made in negotiations; and when he expects a conclusion on(a) taking an option on and (b) acquisition of any such land area.

Mr. David Hunt

My officials are continuing constructive discussions with interested parties, including the Countryside Council for Wales and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, about measures to compensate for the loss of the existing feeding grounds in Cardiff bay. However, it would be premature to estimate the timing of any land acquisition at this stage.
