Mr. Tony Banks

To ask the President of the Board of Trade how many civil servants in his Department he is considering for relocation from headquarters buildings; and if he will list the areas currently under consideration for relocation.

The Radiocommunications Agency of the DTI is currently considering the possibility of relocating 350 staff from its offices at Waterloo to docklands.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what discussions have taken place with the trade unions in respect of relocation of civil servants from his Department's headquarters buildings.

The trade union side has been consulted and kept informed about the progress of the Department's programme of relocation reviews. They have been closely involved in discussions about relocation and are currently involved in discussions with the Radiocommunications Agency about the planned move to docklands.
