HC Deb 04 June 1992 vol 208 c629W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what is his latest estimate of the total investment planned to develop(a) coppicing and (b) other benign energy sources.

Mr. Eggar

The Department of Trade and Industry new and renewable energy programme expects to invest £24.3 million in 1992–93, of which £2.6 million is directly attributable to biofuels, including £547,000 for work on short rotation arable coppice. Complementary work on miscanthus, another energy crop, costing £45,000, is being funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
