HC Deb 04 June 1992 vol 208 c631W
Mrs. Clwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assistance Her Majesty's Government is providing to Cambodia for its mine-clearing programme.

Mr. Goodlad

The UN transitional authority in Cambodia's mine clearance training unit is led by a British commander supported by 10 other personnel. The United Kingdom is also contributing financially to the mine clearance training programme through payment of our assessed contribution—6.1 per cent.—to the costs of UNTAC. We have given the HALO Trust, a British non-governmental organisation working in Cambodia, £60,000 to help its mine survey work in Cambodia on behalf of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
