§ Mr. NelsonWe have received a number of representations for the temporary increase in the stamp duty threshold to be extended beyond 19 August. When my right hon. Friend the Chancellor announced the increase last December, he made it clear that it was a temporary measure for eight months to help stimulate the housing market. We do not propose to extend the increased threshold beyond 19 August.
