HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 c388W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent communications his Department has had with the Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee on the options for returning to countries of origin radioactive wastes arising from spent fuel reprocessed at Sellafield and Dounreay.

Mr. Maclean

The Radioactive Waste Management Advisory Committee has been asked for its views on the technical basis of British Nuclear Fuels' proposals on implementing the return of waste options in its reprocessing contracts with overseas customers, and in particular on the likely radiological and environmental impact for the United Kingdom. The Atomic Energy Authority is still considering its options for the management of waste from reprocessing at Dounreay.
