HC Deb 02 June 1992 vol 208 c444W
Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will give the relevant indicators and factors relating to nursery education giving rise to the relevant standard spending assessment for Hampshire for 1992–93; and how much Hampshire county council has budgeted for that purpose.

Mr. Forth

The under-five education element of Hampshire's standard spending assessment for 1992–93 is £24.83 million. The indicators used in calculating this element are resident population aged 0–4, an additional educational needs factor and a factor for additional employment costs made on a regional basis. For Hampshire the values of these indicators are 103,485, 0.40505 and 1.05248 respectively.

It is for Hampshire county council to determine its spending priorities between and within services, including the level of its provision for nursery education.
